Job Description




Purpose: To prepare and package from scratch baked goods in a timely, efficient manner by following best practices and recipes. To accurately follow production lists and to actively communicate with bakery staff and supervisor regarding production. To assist in the achievement of departmental goals.


Status: FT. Reports to Bakery Supervisor.


Pay Level: III



  • Scaling, mixing and baking in a production bakery to maintain assortment needs
  • Determine and carry out needs for daily decoration and packaging to fulfill orders from all stores and cafe       
  • Flexibility in responding to changing departmental needs per rotation of holiday, new menu and store special products
  • Ensuring bakery and equipment are adequately cleaned by the end of each shift and deep cleaned per schedule
  • Operate in accordance with safe food handling guidelines as set by DOA and city.
  • Work with Shift Lead and Bakery Supervisor to assist in the daily workflow by communicating questions and listening to directions
  • Participate in departmental and storewide meetings and trainings as assigned by department supervisor
  • Participate in Departmental inventories as assigned by Bakery supervisor
  • Other tasks as assigned by Bakery Supervisor/Shift Lead

  • Familiarity with processes and techniques in baking & pastry in a production setting

  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently within time constraints
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment
  • Ability to follow directions accurately




  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, squat and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to move or handle product generally weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
  • Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)



  • Production bakery experience preferred
  • Interest in natural foods
  • Multilingual a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work with co-workers from various cultural backgrounds
